The Gallantries has again just run the largest-ever Galaxy training event: “the GTN Smörgåsbord 2: Tapas Edition”, co-organized with the CINECA project and the Galaxy Training Network.

Following the overwhelming success of the GTN Smörgåsbord, where we hosted the largest-ever Galaxy training event, we’re happy to announce Smörgåsbord 2! A second event with even more Galaxy Training

The Gallantries has just run the largest-ever Galaxy training event: “the GTN Smörgåsbord: A Global Galaxy Course”, co-organized with the CINECA project and the Galaxy Training Network. We discussed our plans a bit in our previous post about the Admin Training which we were using as a testing ground for our methodology. We scaled that approach up for Smörgåsbord and it was absolutely incredible!

This past year has been a struggle for all of us, but one task has become apparent as one of the most time consuming portions of course preparation during a pandemic: Video Production.

The Gallantries is currently planning our first event: “the GTN Smörgåsbord: A Global Galaxy Course” and as of today the registrations have grown to 600 people from all across the world! This is an incredibly exciting development for our first official Gallantries event, but it’s also a bit terrifying as none of us have run such a big event before.

We had our project Kickoff meeting today, and given our comittment to transparency and open science, we have committed to doing all of our project management in the open, on GitHub.

The Gallantries has received a grant from Erasmus+ for developing 4 modular bioinformatics curricula that will let educators across Europe and beyond easily integrate modular lessons into their teaching programmes.
